Ealdræd 61’s estate was at East Holme, among the heaths to the south of the River Frome in south-east Dorset. His was the larger of the two small estates recorded there in DB and there is nothing to suggest any further connection between him and the other TRE holder, Sæwine 27. Exon(62a3) describes Ealdræd as a thegn, although it appears that he was a fairly minor one.
The name Ealdræd was common and there was more than one thegn of that name who held land TRE; but none held land within 40 miles of East Holme and none that passed to the same post-Conquest successor as did Ealdræd 61’s, so there seems no reason to identify him with anyone else.
