GIS application in usePASE Domesday GIS is the first freely-available database of Domesday Book linked to a Geographical Information System (GIS). It facilitates powerful analysis and mapping functions, designed to enable users to identify landholders in Domesday Book with greater speed and precision than has ever been possible.

It is intended to serve as a research tool suitable for a wide range of users with an interest in this period: whether academics in various disciplines, or local historians, or students in schools and universities, or those exploring the past for reasons of their own.

PASE Domesday GIS comprises three elements: free GIS software, a compatible set of data, and a user guide which provides step-by-step instructions for downloading, installing and using material.
