The name was unique in DB. There were two distinct manors at Golborne on the south side of Hatton Heath in west Cheshire, which can be distinguished as Golborne David to the west, which was larger and more valuable (Ches. 24:2), and Lothen’s manor of Golborne Bellow to the east. Their common boundary looks artificial, but the two had evidently been divided some time before 1066 and there seems to be no link between Lothen 3 and the holder of Golborne David, Edwin.
