The four instances of the name Aski in Domesday Book are located so far apart for such small estates that there can be no question of identifying any of them as the same man. Sudtelch is a lost place and its location within Baschurch hundred (which may not even be correct if a hundredal rubric has been omitted) is hardly a matter even for inspired guesswork.
There are no grounds for thinking that Asci here was a scribal error for Aschil (i.e. Eskil). Although the name Eskil occurs in north Shropshire TRE, and perhaps quite close to Sudtelch (one of the two instances being in the same hundred, Baschurch), it appears in the variants Oschetel and Oschil) (Salop. 4.23:12–14).
