Goldstan 8 was listed in DB among the burgesses of Colchester in 1086, where he was recorded as holding 1 house and 5 acres of land paying the king’s customary dues. Given that the name was rare it is likely that Goldstan 8 was the same as the Goldstan active as a moneyer in Colchester during King William I’s reign (von Feilitzen 1937: 273, citing Brooke). There is no reason to connect him with any other TRE or TRW person.
