Esbern 10 held one of two small manors at Calow in north-east Derbyshire; the other was held by one Hakun, and the two belonged in 1086 to the king’s thegns Stenulf and Dunning, though were claimed by another king’s thegn, Dolfin. The estate was very far from any other associated with an Esbern.
