Among the small tenants of the count of Mortain’s share of the manor of Winnianton in 1086 was Beorhtsige, who had a third of a virgate at Tremblaze, on the eastern side of the Lizard peninsula. According to Exon (99a1), it was waste in 1086. Tremblaze had been held TRE by an unnamed thegn who was not free to separate from the manor, perhaps Beorhtsige himself. Tremblaze is a difficult 50 miles from the manors belonging to 1066 to Beorhtsige 48, and there is no question of identifying the two.
